A Few New Pics

New 'Pic of the Week!'

Sorry for my absence, I have been quite busy finishing up school and starting a new job.  Not to worry though, I have still been snapping pictures as my adventures continue to take me into some beautiful terrain.  There's a couple new 'Pics of the Week' and I will get some photos up ASAP from my recent wanderings.

Enjoy!

Early Season in Alaska

Friends enjoying the deep snowpack in Turnagain Pass
The Alaskan winter season is in full swing as we approach the Thanksgiving holiday.  We have seen a tremendous mix of conditions in the last few weeks of skiing.

The Drive Home

Wilson, Wyoming
This past Spring I had the opportunity to drive back to Alaska from where I was living in Wyoming.  I had done the drive north many times before, but I hadn't had the chance to come this far east.  I was always commuting from Reno and, therefor, stuck to the West Coast until I hit the Alaska Highway.  This easterly route gave me the chance to explore both Montana and Northern Idaho as well as meet up with friends in Red Mountain, British Columbia.  The journey began with my departure from Wilson and a beautiful, blue bird day at Grand Targhee.  I spent the day making turns and basking in the sunshine.  Once I had my fill of Targhee, I hit the road north and sped through Eastern Idaho and Montana.  The following day I hit up Lookout Pass, a little place on the Idaho/Montana border.  It was just the experience I was looking for.  Totally empty, the tiny hill seemed much larger when every run was your own.  I enjoyed my day of shredding groomers, had a beer at the bar afterward and continued down the highway toward my next destination.

Fishin' for 'Bows!

Jody on the Kenai

It must be September again.  There's a chill in the air, the leaves are changing and Rainbow Trout are in full swing down on the Kenai!  I managed to get myself in on a couple different trips this year and both proved to be worthwhile.

A Summer of Mountains Climbed

Running above Reed Lakes.

The summer of 2010 was an interesting one here in South Central Alaska.  It started with such beauty and possibility and then turned into a rain soaked mess in the months of June and July.  That did not deter the many, hardy individuals who call this place their home.  Rain or shine, ya gotta take advantage of the summer.  Cause pretty soon, it'll be winter!

Not that that's a bad thing...

So, here are some pics from the mountains that I explored this past summer.  I look forward to seeing them again soon with a blanket of freshly fallen snow.

Enjoy!

The Finale

Here's the conclusion to my road trip.  We returned from Utah to deep snow falling in Tahoe.  So a few of us cruised up to Donner Pass and went for a little walk around.  This was the result.

Enjoy!

Part 4 of the Trip

So...after our days at The Bird, we decided to head north to Ogden and Snowbasin.  Once again, Snowbasin proved to be one of the best mountains I've ever skied.  Wagner, Millertime, Big Jon, Paige Brady and myself enjoyed another couple days of perfect snow in Utah.

Enjoy!

The Bird!

The third installment of "The Road Trip Series", so awesomely named by me.  Jason flew in to Salt Lake all the way from sunny SoCal just to ski some powder with us other UNR alumni.  Turned out to be the first of a few amazing days in Utah.

Enjoy!

The Road Trip; Part 2

Here's part 2 of 5.  A little soft snow action in Wyoming.

Enjoy!

Playskool "My First Edit"; Part 1

Found this beauty in the depths of my computer.  It's from a road trip awhile ago.  You'll probably notice that this was done before I had any HD equipment or reasonable computer skills.  Either way, there are some nice powder turns in there.

Enjoy!

Hello There!

Atop Ptarmigan Peak in Alaska's Chugach State Park.

Hello out there!  I just wanted to introduce myself.  My name is Corky and I will be using this blog to fill you in on my adventures.  I live in Anchorage, AK and spend much of my time exploring the world out my door.  I've developed a bit of a photography habit as well and, until now, I have not had a way to share this hobby.  So...sit back and stay tuned for pictures from my latest travels.

Enjoy!
